Do You Avoid These 8 Writing Mistakes?
When I started out on X 9 months ago, my tweets were horrible.
No sound, bad structure, writing unnecessary were just some of the mistakes I did.
Not what you want.
In this newsletter, I want to show you the most common writing mistakes I made.
1. Not varying text length
Most texts sound boring.
Remember, we don’t see what we read, we hear it.
2. No Structure
Before we engage in a tweet, we ask ourselves, is this worth my time?
Just look at the picture below. Ask yourself, which text would I rather read?
3. Using Academic Words
While school teaches us to write academically, this doesn't apply to the online world.
On Twitter, your personality is important. Write how you talk.
4. Writing more than needed
Write short and precise. Cut out the nonsense.
5. Writing and editing at the same Time
This one is pretty simple. Focus on only one thing.
Don’t write and edit at the same time. Write first and edit later.
6. Don’t be Unsure
Don't write weak ideas. Make Statements!
People want solutions, not assumptions.
7. Write to one Person
Make people feel special. Writing to everyone is writing to no one.
Imagine you are writing to your past self.
8. Not being clear
Never use big words. Make your text easy to understand.
Correct these 8 mistakes in your tweets, and you will be ahead of most creators.
It will take you some time.
Make sure to come back so you can reread the text.
What were some writing mistakes you made that you are now aware of?
Oh, before I leave you, here are 2 books I can highly recommend you that will strengthen your writing skills.
1st book is On Writung Well by William Zinsser
2nd book is Writing Tools by Roy Peter Clark
Definitely check them out!
Alright, enough of me now.
Im out.
